Out of thousands of high-poverty U.S. communities, the Mondawmin area and two others in Baltimore were among fewer than 200 where researchers found poverty fell early this century without residents being displaced. Unlike Better Waverly or Greektown, Mondawmin appeared to sustain that progress into the current decade, a follow-up analysis by researchers found.
